Sam Brown Horse Camp
 

Only horse camp on the Wild Rivers Ranger District.  

Directions:

From Merlin Exit off of Interstate 5, take the Merlin / Galice Road approximately 12 miles to the Briggs Valley Road (Forest Service Road #2500). Follow the #2500 road approximately 15 miles to Forest Service Road #2512, turn right and the campground will be on the right just past Briggs Creek bridge.

From Grants Pass travel north on I-5 to Exit 61 (Merlin). Turn left (west) on the Merlin-Galice Road for 12 miles to Taylor Creek Road (FS Road 25), turn left. Continue 14 miles to FS Road 2512, turn right. Sam Brown Horse Camp is just across the bridge, adjacent to Sam Brown Campground.Facilities 7 sites with corrals for 2-4 horses each, hitching posts, horse corrals, and accessible toilet facility.

 Horse Camping

  • There are several trails in the area for horseback riding.
  • A large fire ring in the center of camp for group gatherings.
  • A training coral above the campground.
  • Each site has access to a coral for horses and areas for hobbling or high-lining.
